About Bushido Martial Arts

Bushido is a forward thinking martial arts academy offering instruction of the highest standard in a comprehensive range of martial arts disciplines.

Predominantly a traditional Jiu-jitsu school, Bushido also offers traditional Shotokan Karate and sport-based Freestyle Karate classes. Recent additions to the Bushido timetable are light continuous kickboxing classes and Sport Swords classes. The young and enthusiastic Sports Swords Team has already won National and European Titles and last year added World Champions to its ranks.

Sports Sword instructor Graham Adie is joined by Sensei Holly Hague, an established Black Belt in Jiu Jitsu and Freestyle Karate who has already amassed a very impressive haul of awards in Sports sword and is currently WKC World Champion.

Growing from what was once a small self defence class, Bushido has developed a strong base of black belts in a number of styles. This core of senior graded instructors provide support and tuition to newer members, making your learning experience a valuable and enjoyable one.

Under the leadership of Sensei John Robertson 7th Dan, Bushido is now run by a multi-disciplined team of Black Belt Instructors who now oversee the day to day teaching of the styles offered. Assistant Chief Instructor Sensei Helen Baldwin brings a fresh and highly professional approach to Jiu Jitsu. Her intelligent and informative approach is fast becoming a massive hit with students of all ages. With over 14 years of experience Helen instills confidence in students and the resulting progression is hugely rewarding. Sensei Jacob Haynes is also an Assistant Chief Instructor and contributes his considerable experience and talent to the Jiu-jitsu and kickboxing classes. Jacob is highly skilled, knowledgeable and is dedicated to teaching students of all ages and abilities.

On the Jiu-jitsu side of the mats, Helen, Jacob and Holly are joined by Sensei Nick Brindley 2nd Dan who with over 12 years experience adds a new dimension to the Jiu Jitsu with a skill set that is both technically exquisite and breathtaking at times. Nick brings an energy and enthusiasm that is totally contagious and adds great in depth knowledge of the art. Nick's quiet and often shy approach masks a truly astounding ability that sets him apart from many Jiu Jitsu Instructors.

Between them, this team of hugely talented Instructors bring a depth of knowledge and outstanding skills to Bushido Martial Arts Association and it is via their dedication and passion for martial arts that we hope our students learn and develop their skills as well as enjoy their lessons with us and value them for the rest of their lives.

Having celebrated its 30th Anniversary Bushido is proud of its long and successful history that has seen many incredible milestones reached. Inside the, Dojo Bushido passed the 200 Black Belt milestone of students trained by Sensei John Robertson. This achievement was further enhanced when Bushido Instructors began producing their own Black Belts who in turn produced their own Black Belts. Having 2nd and 3rd Generation Black Belts is a truly humbling achievement. Off the mat the Shoguns Team, now Sponsored by Stockport Hyundai, has won over 100 World Titles won between them. This is in addition to countless hundreds of National and European Titles already achieved by our students.
